The only village shop and post office closed in 2015. The village library closed shortly afterwards. our challenge was to open a community shop and hub
We took over the community centre in 2014, we changed it from a run-down building to a thriving modern building used by the whole community
Both the community centre and the shop, library and community are completely run and managed by over 100 volunteers, managing volunteers is a challenge.
The community shop and hub opened in Nov 2018, it provides all the day to day essentials as well as luxury goods. The community centre has been completely refurbished and renovated. we are arranging training on managing volunteers
We aim to make the organisation completely self-supporting, the centre is available to hire, the shop aims to increase profits by at least 10% per year
a wide range of activities are reducing social isolation, volunteers are learning new skills and building confidence, the shop has become a valuable asset.
