Many residents of Mateves community near Arusha rely on subsistence farming and don't have skills to gain employment or maximise income from their land.
Mateves has no communal meeting place for groups. Even the church meets in a makeshift shelter with corrugated iron roof & open sides.
We're fundraising to build a community centre on land already owned by a partner's church. It'll be used to hold skills development & employability classes for widows, widowers, young people, those with a disability, and any others who'd benefit, as well as for church & small group meetings.
