50% of households in poverty include 1 or more Deaf/Disabled person. This is without including the estimated £500pm extra disability-related costs they face.
Deaf/Disabled now face more discrimination and are constantly depicted as fraudsters/scroungers & 'work shy', causing exponential rises in disablist hate crime.
A 2016 UN investigation into the UK’s ‘Austerity’ agenda found many “grave or systematic violations” of Disabled people’s rights. Our government ignored them.
We provide Deaf/Disabled people with information & signposting, peer support & advocacy; ensure their voice is heard/influence meaningful; promote & facilitate co-production; and campaign for increased inclusion. We also support other organisations/businesses to be more inclusive & accessible.
